“PULIN” Rosso Colline Savonesi IGT
This wine is the result of a project aimed at rediscovering and promoting the Granaccia, a grape variety native to Liguria and similar to the Grenache of the Southern Rhône Valley. It is grown together
with Syrah and Barbera grapes.
Pulin, the Ligurian dialect word for the “youngest (child)”, is a well-structured, Mediterranean-style red wine with good potential for ageing.
Grape variety: mostly Granaccia, with Syrah and little Barbera.
Description:: deep ruby-red colored. Mediterranean-style and complex on the nose with red fruity aromas: strawberry tree, blackberry, wild strawberry, followed by notes of sweet spices and
tobacco. Harmonious on the palate, with elegant tannins and delicately spicy on the finish.
Place of origin: the Arroscia Valley. Vineyards of Ortovero and Pogli, close to the Mediterranean scrub woods. Lean, rocky soils, consisting mostly of sedimentary rock and blue calcareous clay.
The yield is only 1 Kg per vine.
Vine training technique: Guyot
Harvest date: mid-September, grapes are picked manually and placed in 20-kg perforated crates.
Winemaking and ageing: skin-contact maceration for ten days with frequent pumping over in steel, where the alcoholic fermentation is carried out. Ageing in small French-oak barrels for thirteen
months. Bottle ageing for twelve months.
